Dr. Mariyam Ahmed

Dr. Mariyam Ahmed is an associate at the practice. Her professional experience includes positions at the Anxiety Treatment and Research Centre, Mood Disorders Program and Eating Disorders Program at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton. She has also received training at the Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy Clinic at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto. Mariyam has received clinical training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Client Centered Therapy, Emotion-Focused and Schema Focused interventions for adults. She has extensive experience in psychological assessment and treatment for various anxiety disorders (i.e., social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorders), mood disorders, life transitions, adjustment disorders, couples/relationship concerns, interpersonal and personality related difficulties.

Mariyam’s doctoral dissertation investigated “Interpersonal Process during moments of Resistance and Cooperation on Client Outcome Expectations in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Generalized Anxiety”. Mariyam received the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), for three years for her doctoral research.
